Cancel recognition of Congress party – BJP to Election Commission

Chandigarh, November 20, 2013. A delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party led by Sh. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, and including Sh. Satya Pal Jain, Sh. Dharmendra Pradhan, Sh. Prakash Javadekar, Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi and Smt. Pinki Anand, submitted a complaint to the Election Commission of India demanding de-recognition of the Congress party because of the repeated violations of the Model Code of Conduct in view of the statements given by Sh. Rahul Gandhi in Chattisgarh and Delhi on 16th and 17th November, 2013 as well as publishing certain advertisements in various newspapers in Madhya Pradesh from November 13 till date leveling false allegations against the BJP, Sh. Narendra Modi, Chief Minister, Gujarat and Sh. Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Chief Minister, Madhya Pradesh and his wife.Satya Pal Jain & other BJP leaders coming out of office of Election Commission after submitting complaint against Rahul Gandhi & Congress party for violating Model Code of Conduct

Sh. Satya Pal Jain, National Chairman of the BJP’s Committee on Legal Affairs & Election Commission Issues, while addressing media persons after submitting the complaint, said that the speeches of Sh. Rahul Gandhi calling BJP “a party of thieves” and urging people “Inn Choron Ko Nikalo” and leveling false allegations against the BJP are in violation of the Model Code of Conduct. He said that Congress got certain advertisements published in various newspapers in Madhya Pradesh using very derogatory language against BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Sh. Narendra Modi, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Sh. Shivraj Singh Chauhan and his family. He also said that it has become a routine for the Congress leaders to violate the Model Code of Conduct inspite of warnings by the Election Commission of India. He cited the examples of Sh. Salman Khurshid, Sh. Beni Prasad Verma, Sh. Shankarsingh Vaghela and other Congress leaders who have been contemptuously violating the Model Code of Conduct by making false & baseless allegations against the BJP.

Mr. Jain also said that though Sh. Rahul Gandhi had been admonished and warned by the Election Commission of India on November 13, 2013 still, in complete defiance of the Election Commission of India he repeated the same thing on 16th & 17th November, 2013.

Mr. Jain said that in view of the persistent violations and irresponsible statements by the Congress leaders, the Election Commission of India, by exercising powers under Paragraph 16A of the Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968, should cancel the recognition of the Congress party immediately.
